At the risk of being stupid (again): There are two entries, "AUpwdauthd", used for rpc.pwdauthd, and "AUyppasswdd", for rpc.ypasswdd. Both are used to setup C2 logging parameters, the uid for each is used in a setauid() syscall, and the 'flags' fields (from /etc/security/ passwd.adjuct) get munged into a mask and passed to a setaudit() syscall.
